Life
Eleftheria Eleftheriou was born in Paralimni, Cyprus, in 1989. She studied piano and music theory during her school years and later took singing lessons. At sixteen she sang as a soloist with the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation’s folk orchestra. She also studied music at the University of Surrey in England; in an early interview she recalled attending for a year before pursuing opportunities in Greece. Television exposure through The X Factor led to work alongside singers including Sakis Rouvas and Nikos Vertis.
In 2010 she released Tables Are Turning, also presented in Greek as Κέντρο του κόσμου (Centre of the World). Her international breakthrough came in 2012, when she won the Greek Eurovision selection and performed Aphrodisiac in Baku. She reached the final and finished seventeenth. Her first album, Τελειώσαμε (We Are Finished), followed in 2014, the year she also appeared in Your Face Sounds Familiar. A later recording chapter with Heaven Music included Όλα αλλάζουνε (Everything Changes) in 2024, Πες της (Tell Her) in 2025 and Αποχωρώ (I Am Leaving) in 2026. In a May 2026 interview for MAD, she discussed her move towards Greek laïko song and the patience required for a performing career.
Works

Eleftheriou’s repertoire crosses the polished dance-pop of an international television contest and Greek songs built around a direct, expressive voice. Aphrodisiac was written and composed by Dimitri Stassos, Mikaela Stenström and Dajana Lööf. Its English words and choreographed presentation belong to the Eurovision project. The language of that entry differs from the Greek songs through which many listeners follow her later work.
Κέντρο του κόσμου (Centre of the World) introduced a Greek version of Tables Are Turning, with music by Leonidas Chatzaras and Greek words by Giannis Doxas. The album Τελειώσαμε (We Are Finished) arrived in 2014. A decade later, Όλα αλλάζουνε (Everything Changes) paired music by Kyriakos Papadopoulos with words by Ilias Filippou. The title contains a useful listening detail: αλλάζουνε has a final ε, while αλλάζουν is another form of the same verb in this context. The singles Πες της (Tell Her) and Αποχωρώ (I Am Leaving), written by Tasos Lymperis, show the singer interpreting another creator’s words and music. Her public discussion of these recordings offers learners both a musical voice and Greek speech about choosing, rehearsing and releasing a song.
Legacy in Greece today
Begin with Heaven Music’s official recording of Όλα αλλάζουνε and listen just for the title. Compare it with your own sentences: Τα σχέδια αλλάζουν (Plans change) and Τα σχέδια αλλάζουνε (Plans change). Both describe the same change here; the second ending adds a sound you can hear. Then use this page’s adapted passage and audio to explain one harmless change in your own schedule: an outing becomes an evening of music at home. Tell a friend the old plan and the new one, then listen to their idea. Greek recordings and interviews provide the language material; the English Eurovision entry Aphrodisiac offers a separate part of her career.
