Life
Demy was born in Athens in 1991. She began learning the piano at five and also studied singing, music theory and harmony. Before her professional debut, she recorded songs with friends and put performances online. In a 2012 interview she described this gradual beginning: rehearsals and internet recordings came before the attention of a record company. Panik Records introduced her to a wider public in 2011, and her collaboration with Midenistis on Μια ζωγραφιά (A Painting) became an early calling card.
Her first album, #1, appeared in 2012. Alongside recording, she developed a career in musical theatre, moving between the close focus of a microphone and the demands of playing a character. Her stage credits include Fame, Priscilla, The Sound of Music, The Addams Family and Mamma Mia! In 2017 she represented Greece at Eurovision in Kyiv, reaching the final with This Is Love. The result was nineteenth place. Her later releases include the 2019 EP Retrospective and the 2025 album Δέλτα (Delta). Across these projects, her career brings together contemporary Greek song, international pop and the shared work of singers, actors, musicians and production teams.
Works

Πόσες χιλιάδες καλοκαίρια (How Many Thousands of Summers) pairs Demy’s singing with music by Dimitris Kontopoulos and words by Nikos Moraitis. The title gives an everyday season an exaggerated scale: thousands of summers. It also makes a small grammatical detail audible. Πόσες agrees with the feminine plural χιλιάδες, not with the neuter καλοκαίρια. A learner can borrow the question pattern without borrowing the song’s lyrics.
The albums #1 and Ρόδινο όνειρο (Rosy Dream), released in 2012 and 2014, place her in a pop world of melodic hooks, dance production and collaborations. The English-language This Is Love, composed by Kontopoulos with words by John Ballard and Romy Papadea, brought this work to an international television audience in 2017. Retrospective offered a different angle in 2019: restrained electropop arrangements of songs by Mikis Theodorakis, Stavros Xarchakos, Dionysis Savvopoulos and Giannis Spanos. These are interpretations of other composers’ work. Her musical-theatre appearances add character, gesture and dramatic timing to the recorded voice. Δέλτα (Delta), listed by Panik as a 2025 album, extends a discography that moves between newly released pop material and encounters with earlier Greek songwriting.
Legacy in Greece today
Demy offers a useful meeting point between familiar international pop formats and Greek words heard on radio, in interviews and in song titles. Listen to the official recording of Πόσες χιλιάδες καλοκαίρια, then read its title aloud. Notice that πόσες goes with χιλιάδες. Next use this page’s adapted passage and audio to ask two new questions: Πόσες μέρες μένεις; (How many days are you staying?) and Πόσα καλοκαίρια θυμάσαι; (How many summers do you remember?). Answer with your own numbers and swap roles with a friend. This small exchange turns a remembered title into useful spoken Greek. For Greek listening, choose Greek speech or a Greek recording; This Is Love is English.
