24 letters
The Greek alphabet has 24 letters, each with an upper- and lower-case form. Seven are vowels: α, ε, η, ι, ο, υ, ω.
- Α α — άλφαlike “a”
- Δ δ — δέλταlike “th” in this
- Σ σ/ς — σίγμας at word-end
Useful digraphs
Some letter pairs make a single sound: ου = “oo”, αι = “e”, ει/οι = “ee”, μπ = “b”, ντ = “d”, γκ = “g”.
