Greek beginner dictation: ten short audio prompts

Dictation asks you to turn what you hear into written Greek. These ten short clips reuse the free A1 greetings and time activities. Some are brief expressions and others are sentences. They are separate prompts, not one story. Use paper or your own notes; you do not need to submit an answer to use this worksheet.

How to make an attempt

Listen once for the whole expression. Listen again and write the Greek words, leaving a space where you are unsure. Replay a clip if needed, but keep your first attempt so you can compare it with the correction. Do not open the transcripts until you have tried. If you cannot hear the clips, you can read the transcripts instead, but that is reading practice rather than dictation.

Review two different kinds of error

First compare the words: did you miss a word, hear a different number or confuse the day? Then compare the spelling: accents, letters, capitals and punctuation. Hearing the right word and spelling it correctly are related but different checks. In clip 8, παρά τέταρτο means a quarter before the named hour; do not turn it into a quarter after.

Make a correction you can use

Choose one clip you found difficult. Copy its corrected transcript once, cover it and write a fresh attempt from the audio. Note the precise difference, such as missing στις or writing the wrong day. Do not use a total score here to infer your language level. At a later session, try the difficult clip before looking at yesterday’s correction.

Continue in the free course

The A1 time-listening lesson asks you to understand times and days in related questions. It is a continuation in listening comprehension, not another ten-line dictation. Create an account to save your course progress.
