Cypriot Greek is what you hear in the street; Standard Modern Greek is what is written, taught and examined, in Cypriot schools included. That is what the platform teaches, so it lines up with what your child is marked on and with every sign, form and newspaper you read.
For the child with Greek as a school subject
English-medium schools in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos teach Greek as a second language, and the gap between “gets by” and “passes comfortably” is usually reading and grammar. The six CEFR levels map onto that, with instant marking and explanations.

Cypriot Greek or Standard Greek?
Standard Modern Greek — the written and taught language, which every Cypriot also speaks and which schools and certificates use. Once you have it, the dialect is a matter of ear, not of grammar.
My child is at an English-medium school and struggles with Greek. Where do we start?
With the free 3-minute placement test, which puts them at the right level. The exercises follow the CEFR levels the school works with; for homework support and speaking practice, a private lesson with a native teacher is the direct route.
Are the lessons in person?
Lessons are online, by video. Cyprus is one hour ahead of Central Europe, where the teachers are based, so late-afternoon and evening slots in Cyprus fall in normal working hours for them.
Can I prepare for the Ελληνομάθεια certificate here?
Yes. The ΚΕΓ certificate has exam centres in Cyprus, and six timed mock exams in the official format are free on the platform, at every level from Α1 to Γ2.
What does it cost?
A1 is free forever. Full access is 8 CHF a month (about 8.50 €) for one learner or 12 CHF for a family of four, cancellable in one click. Private lessons are 60 CHF for 60 minutes, less in packs; the first group class is free.
