This activity uses an original conversation written for learners. It is not a scene or quotation from a film. Practise asking for an opinion, explaining a preference and asking someone not to reveal the ending. You do not need to have watched a particular film to answer the questions.
Two friends discuss their plans
| Άννα: Είδες την ταινία χθες; | Anna: Did you see the film yesterday? |
| Νίκος: Ναι. Μου άρεσε η μουσική, αλλά η πλοκή ήταν λίγο αργή. | Nikos: Yes. I liked the music, but the plot was a little slow. |
| Άννα: Εγώ θα τη δω απόψε. Μη μου πεις το τέλος! | Anna: I’ll watch it tonight. Don’t tell me the ending! |
| Νίκος: Εντάξει. Θέλεις να μιλήσουμε μετά; | Nikos: Okay. Would you like us to talk afterwards? |
| Άννα: Ναι, μετά την ταινία. | Anna: Yes, after the film. |
Follow the speakers’ different situations
Nikos has already watched the film; Anna has not. Yesterday and tonight refer to different viewing times. The dialogue gives Nikos’s opinion about music and plot, not an objective assessment of a real production. Anna’s request protects her from hearing the ending before watching.
Check the conversation
- Who has already seen the film?
- Does Nikos praise the music or the speed of the plot?
- When does Anna plan to watch it?
- Do they agree to discuss it before or after Anna watches?
Answers
1. Nikos. 2. The music; he describes the plot as a little slow. 3. Tonight. 4. Afterwards: μετά την ταινία.
Keep an opinion separate from a plot summary
Μου άρεσε means “I liked it” or “I liked…” with the thing named afterwards. Here η μουσική supplies that information. Η πλοκή is the plot, while το τέλος is the ending. You can express an opinion about music without retelling what happens. The contrast word αλλά lets Nikos add a reservation rather than saying that everything was good or everything was bad.
Protect the information you do not want yet
Μη μου πεις το τέλος is a familiar singular request not to reveal the ending. Keep the complete expression together. In θα τη δω, τη refers back to the feminine noun ταινία; the phrase means “I’ll see it”. It does not name a second film. The two friends’ different viewing times explain why this request matters.
Write a short reply of your own
Imagine you enjoyed the story but did not like the music. Try: Μου άρεσε η ιστορία, αλλά δεν μου άρεσε η μουσική. This is another practice sentence, not a review of an actual film. Then ask a partner Εσένα σου άρεσε; — Did you like it? If you have not watched the film, say so instead of inventing an opinion: Δεν την έχω δει ακόμα — I haven’t seen it yet.
Continue with preference and negation practice
Use the preference guide to compare singular and plural things you like. The negation guide helps distinguish a negative statement from an instruction. Keep your own film discussion focused on what you have actually watched and what your partner wants to know.
