Questions Greek-Australian families ask

Does this replace Greek Saturday school?

No, and it is not meant to. Community schools give children the social side of the language — other Greek-Australian kids in a room together. This is the practice between those lessons, which is where most heritage learning is actually lost.

My child speaks Greek but cannot read it. Where do we start?

The alphabet notes and A1 level, which are free. Most heritage children move through them quickly because they already recognise the words when they sound them out — it is decoding, not vocabulary, that they are missing.

Are there listening exercises?

Not yet, and we would rather say so. The written material is extensive; recorded native audio is being produced but is not live, so today the platform trains reading and writing. For listening and speaking, the one-to-one lessons are the honest answer.

Can we do live lessons from Melbourne?
