The Comprehensive Examination in Modern Greek is administered by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese with the New York City Department of Education, and since 2023 the State Education Department has approved it as a 4+1 World Language Pathway Assessment. That makes it worth preparing for properly.

Checkpoint B is a level, and we are organised by level
The exam is aligned to the Checkpoint B standard, which sits roughly at CEFR A2–B1. Every exercise, grammar note and reading here is tagged by CEFR level, so you can work at the band the exam actually asks for instead of guessing.
Built for the afternoon-school schedule
Parochial day and afternoon school gives a few hours a week. These are ten-minute self-marking activities for the evenings in between — they remember where you stopped and pick you up there.

- Listening — No native recordings yet. The listening section is not trained here, and we will say so until it is.
- Speaking — Only inside one-to-one lessons, and the timezone limits US students to mornings.
The written half, done thoroughly. A1 and the mock exams are free, so nothing is spent before you know it fits.

No, and nothing here should be read as endorsement by any of them. The exam is developed and administered by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Department of Greek Education with the NYC Department of Education; this is independent practice material for the skills it tests. Register for the exam through your school.
What does the exam actually count for?
It is aligned to Checkpoint B and has been considered for Regents credit in world languages; in 2023 the State Education Department approved it as a 4+1 World Language Pathway Assessment, meaning it can serve as a graduation pathway assessment. Your school counsellor is the authority on how that applies to your specific programme.
Which parts does this platform prepare?
Reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary — thoroughly. Not listening, since we have no native audio yet. Speaking only through the live lessons.
My kids speak Greek at home but write it badly. Where do we start?
